24th March: 07 Langster

I can't believe that anyone would actually steal this bike but they did, it's VERY distinctive, its an 07 Langster rattle canned fluoro green (except for the rear stays) with risers and green grips and a 26" spinergy on the front

Stolen from outside the N1 centre in Angel about half hour ago, locked with an Abus D Lock, through front wheel and frame, left for 5 mins, lock was cut and bike was gone. Note: The bike now has a four spoke carbon wheel on the front.

19th March: 2008 Langster

My 2008 Specialized Langster was stolen today
(19/3/08) between 1:30 and 3:30pm, from Mulberry
school for girls on Commercial Rd, E1.

It was a large sized frame, with only a couple of
changes from stock. The wheels are all silver, being
Mavic Open Pro's laced to X fusion hubs. 15T DA
sprocket on the drive side. I also put some FSA
shallow drop bars on, plus the stem is lowered but
the steerer is not cut yet. These are the main
distinguishing features.

14th March: Pinarello, Trek 1000, Vivalo Track

Hey there, me and a friend of mine had both our bikes stolen from outside the Post Office on Broadway Market in Hackney last night, 12th March, between the hours of 5.45pm and 7.15pm.
Both the bikes were locked together with a £50 D-lock bought from Cavendish Cycles. They were locked to one of the bicycle posts along the market road.
The bikes were both racers.
Mine was a striking blue Pinarello Sestriere 52cm with 53cm top tube, with a Campagnolo Mirage Groupset 8 speed, with a brand new Campag Veloce rear derailleur just fitted.
It also has a yellow water bottle holder and a fairly worn down Turbo saddle.
The bike also had Mavic CXP30 Rims with Mirage hubs.
The tyres were new Continental Gatorskin black tyres and the pedals were MKS Sylvan Road Pedals with MKS steel toe clips as well.
The other bike was a red and white Trek 1000, with a slightly bigger aluminum frame and Bontrager saddle and forks.
New grey Continental puncture resistant tyres and a Catey

Parts Stolen From The George In Dalston

I have heard that parts stolen from the George in Dalston are turning up at the market on Kingsland road, just north of Middelton street. If any one goes there to check it out look out for these parts stolen from the George in the past few weeks:

Thompson Seatpost
WTP Seat
Titanium Seatpost: very wide diameter (ca 35mm) and long (maybe 400mm) with aluminum pump held inside by a rubber insert in the bottom end. Seat clamp is bonded and pinned into the top but has worked a bit loose. This is a size unique to Moultons
Brooks Pro saddle light brown with copper rivets.

If you see any one selling any of these parts, especially at the Kingsland road market, email us stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

11th March: Pinnacle Mean Street

My Pinnacle Mean Streak 2.0 was stolen today from outside my flat (Pigott Street, E14). It's a black, rigid mountain bike. The wheels are 26", WTB rims, Shimano hubs. The groupset is Deore, and it's got mechanical disc brakes.

I locked it to a lamp post with a steel D-lock whilst I went upstairs, since my bike was greasy, and needed cleaning. It was nicked in the hour between 19:30 and 20:30.

The frame number is 1K26102739. If anyone sees it around, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Two London Messengers Injured In One Week

Two messengers where seriously injured this past week, booth where hit by lorries. One was lucky to escape with an injured foot, but will not be able to work for some time. The other was dragged by the lorry that hit him, after intense surgery his legs where saved, he may walk but will never ride again. My thoughts and those of every one who helps out at Stolen Bike London are with them for a speedy recovery.

A fund to help support these messengers has been setup, and donations can be sent by paypal to bill.chidley(anti-spam replace with @)mac.com (mark them EC donation). there is also a general fund for inured messengers: the bicycle messenger emergency fund please help out if you can.

For those of you who don't know about the life of a messenger, we are paid per package per mile, and don't make enough to hold us if we are injured. Bicycle messenger continually ranks in the top ten most dangerous jobs, injuries are common. Most of us are independent contractors and not entitled to compensation for workplace injuries, or a labor union. When we get injured we cant work, we don't get paid, its a struggle to make ends meet.

This blog has a purpose, and I won't normally divert space from that, but I feel this is important, especially due to the severity of the injuries.

9 March: White Giant MTB

I locked my White framed GIANT mountain bike outside Esporta Sports Club in a designated area inside the Car Park of the Riverside development, Wandsworth Town. The lock was cut in the early hours of Wed 5th March and despite CCTV in place to the entrance of the car park; the porters deny me access to view the camera footage; there have been a number of similar bike thefts there but the same employees in the car park seem to have no idea about such cases...........The bike was made in Japan while I lived theer with all parts made there and a yellow registration sticker on the frame in Japanese; unfort I have no photo but it but ALL parts are distictively Japanese/made in Japan.

Any info gratefully appreciated and also regarding similar thefts from this same supposedly secure car park.
