4th September Rondinella Track Bike

This bike has been recovered

Thursday night, Homerton outside a chicken shop. Someone nicked Jack's orange Rondinella track 1970s frame.

A few days after this bike was stolen he son of the owner of Bobby's Supperstore http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...=16&iwloc=addr offered to sell it to the a freind of the owner. The freind arranged to buy the bike, and went to contact the police, they said there was nothing they could do as Jack (the bikes owner) had not reported it stolen. As the police would not help, Jack's freind paid the seller of the bike 50 pounds, to get it back. The guy who had the bike claimed he got it from a tramp for 80 pounds.

8 September Gary Fisher HiFi Pro

My bike was stolen yesterday (8th September 2008) from the rear of my office 68 Wood Lane, London TW7 7EW. It is a 26inch wheeled mountain bike, a Gary Fisher HiFi Pro full suspension in satin white with very distinctive pink Halo Twin Rail tyres. The bike was set up for a 6 foot tall rider with a long seaat post and several spacers on the headset. Black wide riser handlebars and XT componentry throught. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures as the frame was a warranty replacement and only two weeks old. Yes I know - next time I will get pictures taken immediately.

We think the thief was disturbed as he came back for more but unfortunately the security gate to the 'secure' car park is never locked and the CCTV from the rear of the building which is watched by security guards is not working due to building work. The lock and cable on the bike was made short work of with some form of bolt cutter.

If you have any information about this bike please email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

28 August Raleigh Ladies Mountian Bike

Hi all fellow victims of crime

My siver Raleigh ladies mountain bike was stolen Thursday 28th August from the bike racks out the front of the Hampstead Theatre, Swiss Cottage. The one day of the year I didn't park in my work grounds (Central School of Speech & Drama) across, due to building works. The theif left my front wheel and lock- how generous! The bike also has a silver panier rack on the back and black bottle holder. It is a very heavy bike which gave me back and knee ache. Good luck to whom ever has it!!!

12 July 2007 Trek 6000

Hi London cyclists,

My bike was stolen on Saturday 12th July 2008 in Holborn, Drake Street/Procter Street. It happened between 4 and 5 p.m.. It is a 2007 Trek 6000 Mountain Bike in silver, frame size 19,5 inch. The tyres I had changed to the thin Specialized Fat Boy and I had two black bottle holders fixed to the frame. The strange thing about it is that just when I locked it a guy (aged 15-20) was asking me how to get to Holborn Station. He was dressed in a light blue track suit, trainers (all Nike) and a baseball cap. He had a false diamond stud in his ear and looked as if he was from London, as if he knew where Holborn Station is. Spoiling his trendy look, he was carrying a small rucksack.

Having already excepted not to see my bike again I saw a guy cycling it today (Monday 28th July 2008) in Nelson Terrace/City Road, Islington. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get hold of it. I think the two persons, stealing it and cycling it could be the same person.

Although I dont have a lot of hope to see it ever again, I write this to let you know how things can come.
Cycling in London is a great thing but we have to be very watchful at any time to oppose thieves.

If you have any information on my bike email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com. If you find it, there is a reward of £50.

Best regards, Michael

The bike was locked to a sheffield stand with a £50 Kryptonite Flex lock in a 'secure' bicycle parking area at the side of the building which has apparently got CCTV coverage with security guards and accessed only by a building pass.

My bike - 2005 model year Battleship Grey Kona Cindercone frame.

Hope rear hub.

7 July Carrera Subway 2

Hi all,

My bike was stolen on Monday 7th July 2008 between 09:00 and 12:30 from the bike racks in the middle of Holborn near to Holborn Circus (EC1N 2HS). This was the first day that I had ever ridden to work and I was really looking forward to keeping it up… how demoralising. The metal cable lock had been cut and left hanging on the rack.

The bike is a Carrera Subway 2 men’s mountain bike with 15 gears and disc brakes. It is a dark metallic grey with lighter grey logos on the frame and forks. There was also a small led light secured to the handle bars. A photo of the same type of bike (copied from an advertisement) is attached. Unfortunately I am new to London and was admittedly a bit naïve about the severity of bike thefts so I don’t have a record of the frame number. That won’t happen again.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Mark

12 July 2005 Gray Fisher Cake DLX

Hi,

My bike was stolen a little after 2 pm on Saturday the 12, of July. It is a 2005 Gary Fisher Cake DLX 1. It was stolen from the Tesco on Circus Road in St. John's Wood. It has a blue and black paint job and had carbon seat post and handle bars. The frame is extremely large 21 inch, so unless some one is well over 6 feet tall, the rider will look very odd on it. Also this bike has extremely unusual front suspension, a Maverick front fork, which is similar to a dirt bikes front shocks. There was a Specialized tire on the rear wheel, which was quite noticable.

The bike is in mint shape and quite a rare bike, I was just about to leave to go to France to ride in the alps for a few day on it. As you can imagine, I'm gutted, I built the bike from the frame up, and this bike means a lot to me. If anyone has any information on this, please contact the police (I have reported it stolen) or this blog.

Many Thanks,

Patrick

30 June Specialised Globe

Hiya,

My bike was stolen today between 16:40 and 17:30 from outside the library in Kentish Town. Broad daylight (naturally), and beautiful sunny day too. It's a Globe Specialised hybrid - only 1.5months old. Ha ha ha.

I'm wondering how many people have managed to retrieve their bikes using your website? And much as I previously disagreed wholeheartedly with the idea of purchasing stolen goods, how on earth can I afford a new one? No insurance...

21 June Laides Hero

Hi

My girlfriend's Black Ladies Bicycle. Labeled Hero, from India. Looks like an old raleigh with old fashioned brakes and mudgaurds. It has a newish squashy saddle. It is very distinctive as it has HERO cast into the front chainset and new BMX pedals. It has 3 speed Sturmy Archer gears and white tips on the mudguards. It was stolen from a back garden off the essex road Islington on tuesday 17th of May. It is a very special bike and we would like to get it back.

Thanks for your Help

20 June Specialized Langster

Hi, I got my bike nicked, heres a description and the thread from the single speed website I'm on under the name vedubkid:

My lovely Specialized Langster, the rust brown 07 model, was nicked from outside the Hope and Anchor last night, 14/06, between 22:30 and 23:45 from a lamp post between the Hope, and Budgens supermarket on Upper St. It had a yellow Time Again sticker on the top tube, and a US Bombs sticker on the down tube, probably bin removed by now, and a Crud Catcher mudguard. I have tried reporting this theft on the Met website but the feckin' site keeps crashing.

I didn't have a photo unfortunately. I've put a similar post on Gumtree, and bin down Brick Lane this morning but so far nada.

If you could put thi on the blog I'd appreciate it. Charlie

4 June Raliegh Lady's Mountain Bike

My bike was stolen from outside Liverpool Street Station between 3rd and 4th June. It was locked to one of the 4 bike stands just outside the main building, beside the outdoor seating area of Hamilton's Bar, and beneath 3 CCTV cameras. I'd been locking it there for 8 months. Blue-green Raleigh Lady's mountain bike, fairly old and battered looking. New rear tyre. Black carrier. attachments for lights at the front. One D lock through wheel and bicycle stand. One (new £40!) armour lock through wheel, frame, and bike stand. Strangely they also took the (cut/ broken) locks with them!

1 June Dawes Giro 500

Dear Stolen Bike London,

My bike was stolen on Sunday 1 June 2008 at 9:30am from outside Browns in Angel Islington.

It was a Dawes Giro 500 ladies racing bike, blue and white with bright blue handlebars and it was my pride and joy!!:(

Sadly, I actually saw the whole thing happen but was too far away to do anything. The thief casually walked up to the bike racks and I thought he was unlocking the bike next to mine. By the time I realised it was my bike he was already off down Essex Road.

I would recommend to anyone, if you love your bike, then fork out the extra £s for a decent lock that takes them at least a minute to get through!! I didn't and have paid the price.

27th May Trek 1000, Cannondale R500

Hi,

I was having lunch at Wild Honey W1S 2FB on St George's Street in Mayfair when my bike was stolen. It was parked outside no 30 St George's Street at 1pm and I came out to check on it at around 2pm but when I left at 4pm it was gone and the lock was left behind.

It is a black Trek 1000 with sliver wheels, not the standard black, with brckets front and back for lights (but no lights on them) and a computer with a broken clip (so can't just be removed) on the front handle bars and a pump and bolttle holder (without pump and bottle)...I assume if it is being sold this would have been removed.

I have tried the buildign and the council just in case and will go to Bricklane police station to see if it has been seized from those shops.

Any help or advice would be great, thanks.

If you have any information about this bike please email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

10th May: Giant FCR3

Hi,

My bike was stolen today at 1.20pm from outside University College Hospital London. It is a Women's Giant FCR3 Road Bike. It is white and grey, and it was missing its front wheel when stolen as I had taken it with me hopefully deterring thieves how wrong was I!

Also I was in the hospital visiting and was able to view my bike from the window - I saw someone looking a bit off hanging around near the bike rails and cut my visit short, only to discover the thief had taken it on my way out of the building.

Also, just for anyone else reading this - stolen bikes are sold on Brick Lane daily, if you want to find your missing bike i would start there. But obviously don't buy from there!!!

5th May Ladies Mountain Bike

Dear Stolenbikelondon,

My bike got stolen between the 4th and 5th of May from the bikeshed outside my block of flats in Warren Way, Edgware, HA8, North West London. It was a black ladies' 26" mountain bike with full suspension. It had stickers but I took them off, but there was glue left on the frame. The metal parts are mostly rusty but the rear wheel was new. The handlebar had the attachment for a front headlight and the pedals were broken. Unfortunately, I have no photograph. I had already been locking it without the seat (as it had previously been stolen), but they took it nonetheless. I naively put the d-lock through the front wheel but failed to put it through the frame, they cut my chain lock and took the frame and back wheel. It has a white sticker that says "handmade" and a crudcatcher front mudguard. It is not the first (and will not be the last) bike to be stolen from the bikesheds outside the block of flats. I think mine is the 10th bike to be stolen in the past 3-4 months. If found, there is a £30 reward.

If you have any information on this bike please email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

2nd May: Brompton L3

My wife's Brompton L3 was stolen on Friday 2nd May. The theft occurred in broad daylight in front of Tate Modern, with millions of tourists around. The bike was locked to the railing next to the slope leading to the turbine hall entrance (on the busier side closer to the river). The bike was locked together with three others. Foolishly, it was locked with a D-lock (through the little triangle in the frame) to a metal cable that held the three other bikes together. The thief cut the cable in the middle of the tourist crowd.

The bike is a red L3, the frame being stamped "148606 BS 6102 PART1". The bike had a folding pedal and a plastic block at the front to fit a luggage bag. It is pretty old, but has a new rear mudgard and front wheel. The saddle had been replaced two years ago and is a "Bodyfit". Other distinctive features are:
- broken front mudgard, fixed with grey tape
- cover of the gear switch (on the handle bar) broken and missing
- little LED light on the front mudgard (instead of standard cateye)
- rear tyre worn on the side
- LED rear lamp on seat post
- little wire hook that holds front wheel to frame when folded covered with grey tape (instead of original rubber coating)

If you see our bike, please contact stolenbikelondon@gmail.com or tell the police (we have reported the theft).

Organised theft outside Rio cinema Dalston

Dear stolenbikelondon,

Last night between 9 and 11 pm my wife's bike was stripped of handlebars, black brooks saddle with a splash of white paint and chorus seat post, front and rear deralliers, rear wheel and cables. Campag chorus levers/shifters and front band-on mech, centaur rear mech medium cage. Rear wheel, cetaur hub/ open-pro rim, continental gatorskin 28mm tyre

My rear wheel was stolen, its very ditinctive with a 27" falco deep silver rim, royce track hub and 27 x 1.25 continental gatorskin tyre. The hub, whilst shiny, was getting on a a little crunchy. The spoke pattern was 3 leading/ 3 following you'd know what i meant if you saw it.

There was a black car parked right next to the bikes with someone hammering at the door for about 90 minutes while the bikes were being stripped, the owner -according to the manager of the shop next door, was called Syed. A white van -owned by the shop manager - was parked up between the cctv camera and the bikes (it wasn't there when we locked up the bikes) A man standing in the shop doorway a few feet from the bikes, denys seeing anything....

Its been reported to the stoke-newington police.

We're usually very careful, its only my second experience of bike theft in 15 years of daily cycling.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open and warning others,

Jonathon

Stolen: Black 20" 1997 Pashley Princess Classic (ladies) with wicker basket & leather Brooks saddle

Black 20" 1997 Pashley Princess Classic (ladies!) with wicker basket & leather Brooks saddle.

Stolen from a garage on St Andrews Road, West Kensington on Tuesday 29th May 2008. Looks virtually new, but there is a full length vertical crack in her chain case. There's also a neon orange/black dealer sticker near the seatpost Answers to the name of Gladys...

Totally gutting. I love this bike to bits. I would assume it's unusual for a Pashley to get passed on in the street, as they're hardly a trendy ride for a teenage boy. If people could keep their eyes peeled for any Pashley Princesses being sold on second-hand in the area, or sees anything fitting this description on Gumtree, or similar I'd be so grateful if you could get in touch.

My boyfriend's gold/black Decathlon Rockrider 22" frame (again, looking fairly new) was taken at the same time. Double whammy :(

2 x Dahon Boardwalk

Hi there,
I have had 2 folding bikes stolen from the lobby of our apartment (2nd floor) in Farringdon. They were stored in a locked cupboard beside the front door of our flat.
The bikes are black Dahon Boardwalk bikes. They were 1 gear, 6 months old and had brand new tires.
They are very distinctive as they were bought in the US and have a US flag on the frame which is (hopefully) impossible to remove.
I have photos and can send them if needed.
Regards,
Jane

Trek soho 1.0 2008 17.5 inch frame

Hi,

I had my bike (Trek Soho 1.0 2008 17.5 inch, silver) stolen between 6pm Friday 25th April - 10am Saturday 26th April. I'd left it outside the City Lit college on Wild Street WC2. It was only 6 weeks old and cost around 500 quid altogether so I'm pretty gutted. The frame number is WTU225SI5959C and I had it registered on the immobilise.com website, the barcode is 792022.

I had changed the bolts on the wheels to the pitlock security bolts so you can't get them off without the correct attachment, something the stupid thieves failed to spot.

If you see it please let me know.

Thanks very much,
Alex

19th April: LeMond Etape

Hi,

I've just had my bike stolen. As you can probably guess, I'm completely distraught and gutted, so I won't elaborate.

The bike was a LeMond Etape, here are my images and a company image:

The bike was stolen from The Prince George pub in Hackney between 22:00-23:30. It is very, very new so is mostly in good condition, but has some scratching where my bike lock has hit it, and the top of the handlebars is slightly scratched where I've turned it upside-down for servicing. It's 8-speed with two front cogs, was bought from On Your Bike in Tooley st SE1, and was my life and soul. I'm a messanger so this has hit me very hard : (

Thanks endlessly,
Alex Story

5th April: Specialized Stumpjumper, Genesis Single Speed

Hi there,

If you could post this ad about 2 stolen bikes on your forum I would be very happy indeed.
2 bikes stolen from columbia road, saturday 5th april 2008.
1 specialized stumpjumper, team red, 18inch. Fox forks, hope mini brakes, mavic rims, black chris king headset, spds, brand new xt chainset, thompson stem, xt bits,
crud catcher mud guards and led lights.
This is a lovely bike. It will be missing the xt quick release skewer for the front wheel - I still have that bit!
It was seen by a local being hauled off by 5 black teenagers towards london fields (what a surprise).
It was locked to railings and to a second bike.
2nd bike: Genesis single speed, white, with cut down handle bars.
We will pay a small fee for their recovery!

I sat looking at the bikes whilst I had lunch. The little f****** ran up, cut the locks and stole them whilst I had my back turned hugging 2 friends as I left!

Thank you for running this forum - it is a great idea.

If you have any information on this bike please email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

my dark blue basso viper race bike with full campagnolo chorus group was stolen in front of nr 138 kingsland road wednesday, the 2nd of april, between 6 and 8h30 in the evening.

THANKS A LOT

My 2008 Specialized Langster was stolen today

Hey there, me and a friend of mine had both our bikes stolen from outside the Post Office on Broadway Market in Hackney last night, 12th March, between the hours of 5.45pm and 7.15pm.
Both the bikes were locked together with a £50 D-lock bought from Cavendish Cycles. They were locked to one of the bicycle posts along the market road.
The bikes were both racers.
Mine was a striking blue Pinarello Sestriere 52cm with 53cm top tube, with a Campagnolo Mirage Groupset 8 speed, with a brand new Campag Veloce rear derailleur just fitted.
It also has a yellow water bottle holder and a fairly worn down Turbo saddle.
The bike also had Mavic CXP30 Rims with Mirage hubs.
The tyres were new Continental Gatorskin black tyres and the pedals were MKS Sylvan Road Pedals with MKS steel toe clips as well.
The other bike was a red and white Trek 1000, with a slightly bigger aluminum frame and Bontrager saddle and forks.
New grey Continental puncture resistant tyres and a Catey

Parts Stolen From The George In Dalston

I have heard that parts stolen from the George in Dalston are turning up at the market on Kingsland road, just north of Middelton street. If any one goes there to check it out look out for these parts stolen from the George in the past few weeks:

Thompson Seatpost
WTP Seat
Titanium Seatpost: very wide diameter (ca 35mm) and long (maybe 400mm) with aluminum pump held inside by a rubber insert in the bottom end. Seat clamp is bonded and pinned into the top but has worked a bit loose. This is a size unique to Moultons
Brooks Pro saddle light brown with copper rivets.

If you see any one selling any of these parts, especially at the Kingsland road market, email us stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

11th March: Pinnacle Mean Street

My Pinnacle Mean Streak 2.0 was stolen today from outside my flat (Pigott Street, E14). It's a black, rigid mountain bike. The wheels are 26", WTB rims, Shimano hubs. The groupset is Deore, and it's got mechanical disc brakes.

I locked it to a lamp post with a steel D-lock whilst I went upstairs, since my bike was greasy, and needed cleaning. It was nicked in the hour between 19:30 and 20:30.

The frame number is 1K26102739. If anyone sees it around, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Two London Messengers Injured In One Week

Two messengers where seriously injured this past week, booth where hit by lorries. One was lucky to escape with an injured foot, but will not be able to work for some time. The other was dragged by the lorry that hit him, after intense surgery his legs where saved, he may walk but will never ride again. My thoughts and those of every one who helps out at Stolen Bike London are with them for a speedy recovery.

A fund to help support these messengers has been setup, and donations can be sent by paypal to bill.chidley(anti-spam replace with @)mac.com (mark them EC donation). there is also a general fund for inured messengers: the bicycle messenger emergency fund please help out if you can.

For those of you who don't know about the life of a messenger, we are paid per package per mile, and don't make enough to hold us if we are injured. Bicycle messenger continually ranks in the top ten most dangerous jobs, injuries are common. Most of us are independent contractors and not entitled to compensation for workplace injuries, or a labor union. When we get injured we cant work, we don't get paid, its a struggle to make ends meet.

This blog has a purpose, and I won't normally divert space from that, but I feel this is important, especially due to the severity of the injuries.

9 March: White Giant MTB

I locked my White framed GIANT mountain bike outside Esporta Sports Club in a designated area inside the Car Park of the Riverside development, Wandsworth Town. The lock was cut in the early hours of Wed 5th March and despite CCTV in place to the entrance of the car park; the porters deny me access to view the camera footage; there have been a number of similar bike thefts there but the same employees in the car park seem to have no idea about such cases...........The bike was made in Japan while I lived theer with all parts made there and a yellow registration sticker on the frame in Japanese; unfort I have no photo but it but ALL parts are distictively Japanese/made in Japan.

Any info gratefully appreciated and also regarding similar thefts from this same supposedly secure car park.

If you have any information on this bike, or other bikes stolen from this car park please email stolenbikelondon@gmail.com

Gang Of Thives Targeting Pubs In Hackney

A Friend was at The Prince George the other day and the landlord came up to him asking if that was his bike out side, he said yeah, why? and the landlord told him that there's a gang that always drive around in a van full of power tools and pinch all the bikes from there every weekend. The pub staff try to scare them off, but they just come back a few minutes later.
He reckoned they do all the pubs in the area.

They seem to come around 11pm and if they can't get bikes they will strip the parts. They also target the Birdcage.

22nd February: Wheelset

The wheels off this bike stolen tonight near the Prince George e8

20th February: on-one mtb, Schwinn Heavyduty, Raleigh Explorer

a white on-one INBRED frame from 3-4 years ago (has "reject" stickers all over it), fitted with pricy FOX tala$$$$ forks (imported from the US) , HOPE hydraulic brakes, rear wheel has a red SRAM cassette (both wheels are made by on one, with reetard rims), and his name was engraved on most parts of his bike (noticeably the frame, it was done with a real engraver too), along with his phone number. (W. Cleary)

some scum bag got into our house and helped themselves to his bike and someone's camera which was left in the same room by the entrance. it's been reported to the police and my mate says he sent a mail to the stolen bike blog too (although it's been a few days and nothing has come up still).

if you see parts of it (i expect they won't try to sell it as a whole bike), please let me know. this "burglary" happened on bethnal green road, at the corner of brick lane

Stolen Bike Map

I have created a stolen bike map for the right side of the page. If you have had a bike stolen in the past year email the details to stolenbikelondon@gmail.com and I will map it.

I will also be trying to get a lot more traffic directed to this site, as that will make it more effective. I am working on some fliers, as well as getting in touch with the London Cycling Campaign, and other London cycling groups and clubs.

I am planing a few events for the spring, and more details will come as I sort them out.

Brick Lane Beware

From the London fixed gear forum:

Something a bit odd happened in brick lane this Wednesday after (my rather pathetic attempt at) polo. Was sitting in the bar right at the top of brick lane (on the right hand side) with my bike chained to 2 lamp posts in my line of site. This old guy came up to it, started checking it out, then lifted it up (at this point i bolted to the door clenching my fists). By the time I was right next to him he was making some suspicious arm gestures (golf swing?) to what appeared to be a window on the top floor of a building across bethnal green road, to the left of the street that the polo court is on. I dropped my bag on the floor and curtly told him to piss off, got a good look at his face in the process. While i was unlocking my bike I noticed half a magnet on the top tube. Cycled home feeling pretty angry.

I can only assume that
a) this guy (wearing a check blue shirt, blue jeans, heavy (fat) build, greying/thinning/shortish mousy brown hair, bright blue eyes (and with a squint)) had marked my bike with the magnet for someone else to come along and steal it(I had 2 locks on it, mini kryptonite and an abus cable lock);
and b) The people who would come along with bolt cutters etc were in the building across the street.

13th February Olmo Fixed gear

I moved to London a few weeks ago and had my first day of work today. At 9 am I locked my bike to a lamp post on Duke Street right next to the Selfridges staff entrance. Once I left for home at around 4 pm it was gone. No lock left or anything. I had a late 80's early 90's olmo fixie conversion. I'm completely pissed off and miserable because I had repainted the frame, gotten rid of all the unnecessary brazings (bottle cage bolt holes, gear shifter places, rear derailleur hanger etc..) and even filled in the bottle cage brazing holes. It was like a my own kid or something like that. I have been building it up for about 3 years now and I finally got it into a configuration that I was happy with about a week ago. The bike is very distinctive and there will not be another in london. If someone sees someone riding it then they have my permission to kick their teeth in, take the bike and call me at 07521 321360 (the name's Alvi).

Spec....

Frame and Fork: Custom Olmo resprayed (53cm if I can remember right)
Headset: Campag
Stem: 3ttt quill stem
Handlebar: Sakae Champion Chopped and Flopped
Seatpost: Thomson Elite Inline
Saddle: Old Brooks B17 (full hard plastic)
Front Brake Caliper: shimano 105
Front Brake Lever: DIrty Harry BMX
Front Wheel: Mavic cxp23 anodized red laced to a CODA hub
Rear Wheel: Planet-X rim laced to a On-one hub

It's hard to miss: a large frame (58+) british green racing machine.

7th February 2008: Odge custom, S Works Epic

Please help!

My beautiful british green racing machine was stolen last night after i stupidly left it outside a filthy takeaway shop in Newington Green. I'll only be 5 minutes I said... I turned around to see the geezer jump on it and ride away. I chased after him but he and the bike was too fast. This is an Odge special custom built fixed gear number which I would dearly love to have back. With or without the thief's testicles. If you sight it on the streets please let me know. Look out for a large british steel frame with gold leather seat, mavic pro wheels, chrome components.

Thanks
roger

Bike Vandalized: Brick Lane

This bike was not stolen, it was attacked where it was locked, while people on the street, and the door man of City Spice, who told the owner to lock it there while he ate inside, watched. No one warned the owner, or told him about it until he left City Spice. The Bike was locked out side of number 6 Woodseer st E1, we cannot be sure it was the man in the window that attacked the bike, but if he did not he saw it happening and did nothing.

exerts from his post to Londonfgss.com:
Tonight, much against my better judgement, I went to dinner with friends at a curry house on Brick Lane.
As my friends went into the restaurant, I asked the bloke out on the street who was trying to hustle people in to eat where I could leave my bike and he directed me down Woodseer St. There was a street sign with a bike locked to it and just opposite it on the building a basement window with an iron grating. As I was locking my bike up, someone was unlocking his bike from the street sign and this guy who had parked his car next to the pole was giving him shit for locking his bike so close to his car, so I left my bike chained to the basement window grating (the window was covered over with newspaper, so I didn't think anyone would mind) on Woodseer st with my kryptonite chain through the rear wheel and frame and a d-lock through the front wheel and the frame.

About an hour later, I popped up again to check on it and something wasn't right. The saddle was missing but the rails where still attached to the frame... I noticed the bars where bent too..
That's when I noticed that the front tire was not just flat, it was completely deflated. I looked more closely and saw that the tire had been sliced clean through with a knife, and so had the rear tire.

That's when the window above where I'd left the bike opened.

"Hey, mate," a man says, "you should have asked permission before locking your bike under my window"

"What?"

"You should have asked permission. You can't just go locking your bike under someone's window."

"Excuse me?"

"Your lucky your bike is still here."

"Did you do this?"

"You should have asked permission"

"But did you do this?"

"I'm just saying, you should have asked"

What to do when your bike is stolen

You come out of the coffee shop, and walk to where you locked your bike, but its not there, on the ground are two broken locks. Its happened to all of us, now here is what you should to to maximize the chance of getting your bike back.

Unless you can see the thief attempting a get away do not ring 999, the police do not consider this an emergency. Phone 02072301212 (the New Scotland Yard switchboard) and ask to be put through to the nearest police station, they will be more helpful. Go to the station and make a detailed report, note the officers names and numbers, the station they are from, the stations phone number and your case number.

Write down as many details as possible. What time did you lock up your bike, when did you last see it locked up, what locks you used, the location, and any other details. If you have a camera with you snap some pictures of the broken locks and what it was locked to. This will help if you try to claim from your home owners, renters, or cycle insurance.

Email us a detailed description of the bike, when and where it was stolen, how it was locked, and a few recent pictures. The more details the better. Post an add on gumtree with as much information as possible. Go to markets, Brick Lane is notorious for thieves selling stolen bikes on Sunday.
